Plebejus (Agriades) aquilo

Hostplant: Hostplants include Saxifraga oppositifolia and S.aizoides. I used the latter in my breeding.

Lifecycle and behavior: The female laid eggs on the leaves of the hostplant. The eggs used 6-7 days to hatch. The larva hibernates at least once. During my breeding the larva hibernated as L3. The next year only one larva completed the lifecycle while the others hibernated again as L3. The one larva that completed the lifecycle used 12 days after being taken out of hibernation until pupation, molting only one time. Pupal stage lasted 7 days. The adults fly in one generation, usually from late June through July.
