Cupido minimus
Hostplant: Anthyllis vulneraria
Lifecycle and behavior: The female laid eggs at the flower calyces. The eggs used 3-4 days to hatch. The newly hatched larva burrows inside the calyces and eats the insides. When the larva gets bigger it eat the whole flowers, but still seem to prefer the developing seeds inside the calyces. The larval stage lasted 16-19 days and they molted 3 times. Pupal stage lasted 8 days. The butterfly usually flies in one generation, but some second generation adults may hatch the same year. In my breeding a couple of larva pupated and hatched the same year. The other larva hibernated fully grown(L4). The adult butterfly has its main flight period in June.
