Agriades aquilo

Hostplant: Hostplants include Saxifraga oppositifolia and S.aizoides. I used the latter in my breeding.

Lifecycle and behavior: The female laid eggs on the leaves of the hostplant. The eggs used 6-7 days to hatch. During my breeding the larva hibernated as L3. They hibernate at least once. However, some larva hibernated up to three times, every time as L3 after eating just for a short time. The larva that eventually completed the lifecycle after hibernation used 12-14 days from being taken out of hibernation until pupation, molting only once. Pupal stage lasted 7-8 days. The adults fly in one generation, usually from late June through July. Its an arctic species confined to the 2 northern most states in Norway.
